Hi,
I am working on an ancestor ROBERT JONES b Flintshire about 1844. He was married to Priscilla Brailsford.
He was a copper smelter and possibly moved with his family to L'pool where he got married in 1873.
On the 1901 census it says he was born in Grayson, Flintshire - has anybody heard of this as it may help me to whittle down his parents/grandparents as clearly lots of Jones' to research!
Thanks

Marriage shows Robert's father as Joseph Jones (which may help) -
Robert Jones, Bolier Maker
13 Jul 1873, St Nicholas, Lancashire
Father - Joseph Jones, Boiler Maker
Spouse - Priscilla Brellisford
Spouse's father - Joseph Brellisford, Smelter
Wits - Richard and Mary Hill

Yep that's my Robert Jones. So the "Grayson", Flintshire is a red herring on the 1901 census ( possibly a typo) ?

Think it is a very good possible Maureen, well spotted.
This is the bapt of Robert of this family https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KCR8-YZH
Register states, Born 18 April, same address as 1851 father occ boilermaker.
Mothers maiden name Bennion for the girls, not locating Robert on GRO, there is a marriage registered in Great Boughton for these parents.

There's this baptism
Hawarden
May 19 1844 (born April 18) Robert Jones, son of Joseph (boiler maker) and Elizabeth of Pentre Mancot (?). Mancot is to the north of Hawarden.
Sorry, Cas I didn't see that you might have found them. There was no red warning either :-\

Ohh thank you all. The Boiler maker is the clue I think as they all continued in that line of work when they arrived in Liverpool.
Is there a marriage cert anywhere for Joseph & Elizabeth or possibly even their birth records?
Cheers :)

Hi Sue,
I can't see the marriage on FindMyPast, this is the marriage ref
Marriages Dec Q 1842
BENNION Elizabeth Gt Boughton 19 48
JONES Joseph Gt Boughton 19 48
There is a possible likely bapt for Joseph...parents Robert & Sarah (nee Jones) he is a blacksmith..if naming patterns are followed. Has children same names. Only the marriage info would confirm.
Joseph bapt https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KCR8-XFH born April 22 1818 abode Hawarden

Great you found the marriage Gadget :)
This looks like the family 1841. Robert snr, John & Joseph occ is a smith. (just says Smith)
1841 - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M77R-JMP
http://wikidiff.com/whitesmith/blacksmith
Wiki - The trade of Boilermaker evolved from the industrial blacksmith and was known in the early 19th century as a "boilersmith".

I remembered that Great Boughton was the Chester RD in the early years because one of husband's ancestors was registered there in early 1840s :D
Still can't think what Gayson really is - it definitely shows that on the page. It must have been very bad writing on the schedule and the enumerator wrote down what he thought! Been looking around on the map in the wider Hawarden area but ???

I also looked earlier, cannot find anything that would fit anywhere near either ???
This is a poss for Elizabeth only because they are at same address area as bapt for Robert b 1844, and 1851 census.
Elizabeth Snr has occ. ind, (independent) think Elizabeth Jnr is near 19. But there are other of same name in area, so may not be right one. (ages can be rounded down to nearest 5 in 1841)

Thank you so so much for the above info - it is all very helpful especially as I was getting so confused with all of the Jones' !!!
And I now have another branch to look at - The Bennions!
