I have;
John Kenyon
B. 1856, Warley, West Yorkshire, England
On 22/06/1878 he married Elizabeth Ann Schofield in Halifax, West Yorkshire, England.
Elizabeth Ann Schofield
B. 1855, Warley, West Yorkshire, England.
Now i am having trouble finding either the death dates for this couple of them on the proceeding census records to the ones i have.
I have Elizabeth Ann Schofield as a daughter in 1861 and 1871 on the census (Her father was James and her mother was Hannah)
I have John Kenyon as a son in 1861 and 1871 on the census (His father was Samuel and his mother was Susannah.
Now John is on the 1881 census with just his son Samuel living with him. John is marked down as being married but Elizabeth Ann Schofield is nowhere to be seen.
After this point i can't find any more census records for them.
In 1891 Samuel, their son is working as a crewman in Hull on a vessel.
Can anyone help me cap off this line?

John, Clement and Edith on 1891 census:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:76M6-FN2
On the 1891 census as well as Clement and Edith there are children James and Walter.
Shouldn't they be on the 1881 census with John Kenyon and Samuel Kenyon if it is the same family?
As John Kenyon is with an Ellen as his wife on the 1891 census. Also Walter is born in 1875, 3 years before John and Elizabeth Ann Schofield's marriage and Samuel Kenyon's birth.
Is this correct?

The marriage for John & Elizabeth does not give a middle name for Elizabeth.
In 1881 Elizabeth is staying with her parents. RG11 / 4414 f71 p4
1881 John & Samuel are staying with John's mother & stepfather (William Hartley)

Clement & Edith Kenyon were both baptised 28 January 1890 Kings Cross, Halifax parents John & Ellen Kenyon.
Clements birth was registered Kenyon with mmn Craven Sept qtr 1886
Marriage Mar qtr 1874

KENYON, WALTER mmn CRAVEN

Looking like a different family :-\

Just adding to Rosie's info ~
Had a look at this this morning and found the Craven surname for mmn against Edith and Clement. I had to go out so couldn't follow up.
I've just found Samuel's reg on GRO - mother's mn down as Schofield - S Q, 1878, Halifax.
Also, Walter Kenyon, M Q, 1875, Halifax, mother's mn Craven.
I've found this family on the 1881:
14 Willow Street, Walmersley cum Shuttleworth, Bury, Lancs
RG11/3852/23/16
Ellen Kenyon,widow, 50, laundress, b. Warley, Yorks
John Kenyon, lodger, married, 27, cotton operative, b. -do-
Samuel Kenyon, lodger, married, 23, -do-, -do-
Walter Kenyon, son, single, 17, -do-, b. ?, Yorkshire
Julia Kenyon, lodger, married 21, -do-, b. Bury, Lancashire
Walter Kenyon, grandson, 6, b. Halifax
James Kenyon, grandson, 3, b. Halifax
So does look a different family but ..... :-\

That's what I'm thinking but so far can't find the link - nearest to the Walter, son of Ellen, the laundress and aged 17, on the 1881 on the 1871 is in barnsley and has parents named William and Alice ::) ??? ::)
-
John who married Elizabeth has father Samuel
John who married Ellen had father James
-
Found the family of the John who married Ellen Craven on the 1861 in Halifax- RG09/3277/45/15
James, Kenyon, 39
Helen, 35
John, 8
Thomas, 5
Samuel, 2
All except James, b. Warley, Halifax, Yorkshire
So - two Johns born Warley about same time - James and Samuel possibly brothers?
-
None of this solves Tim's query, though - just proves the family that Kevin found was not the correct one.
-
Always worth eliminating though. :)
I can't see any more Kenyon mmn Schofield births in Halifax area.
-
possible for Elizabeth as a widow:

That looks very good, It matches what we know about her. ;D
Just about to post and have seen the 1891 you have posted I do believe you have cracked it ;D
-
Not finding a likely death for John so far though - 1886 +/- 5 :-\
Add - think the other John died 1909.
-
There is a death 1st quarter 1890 for a John Kenyon Halifax but DOB is 1853 he is aged 37
-
Thank you for all of your replies! This has been quite the unraveling.
It has led me to believe this is Elizabeth's death entry..
Deaths Mar 1929
Kenyon Elizabeth 74 Halifax 9a 756
Like the previous post, John is still a mystery, i guess ordering the certificate is the only way to find out if they just recorded the age wrong.
I can't seem to find Elizabeth on the 1911 census (I only have an account with A*)
-
Try first name Kenyon surname Elizabeth ::) ;D
-
Not sure if this helps and you may have the info ~
I think I've probably found son Samuel's marriage at St Barnabas Church, Hull, July 1903 to Gertrude Whitelam. (added - John is recorded as a fisherman, aged 24).
His father, John, is down as deceased, a driver (1881 occ=cart driver). I believe they had at least 3 children.
Also a possible death reg for him June Q 1944, Hull.
