Anc tree gives a brother Raymond born 1926 Scotland but Scotlands People dont show a Raymond Lamont in 1926  ???

Also shows Margaret Collison Reid/Lamont passed away "about 1981" - Bucksburn, Aberdeenshire.
Sadly no sources for either entry.  :-\  But they do have a photograph of Margaret. Could be worth contacting.

Joseph's father died in Aberdeen, aged 65. His death certificate would tell you whether his wife was still alive or not, & the informant may be a relative. This is obtainable from scotlandspeople. The death announcement & acknowledgement may be in the local newspaper. Aberdeen City Library, Local History Department, can do look ups for you if you know when the death occurred. There may also be a headstone which could also lead you to other relatives.

Sandra, there is a death for mother Margaret, showing as Maggie:

Maggie Collison Lamont aged 82 died in 1981 in Bucksburn. Ref 321/ 36. Same refs and details showing for her under the surname of Reid...and Paterson. Looks like she remarried after husband Joseph's death?

Good find.  So that could be the Raymond Lamont that was mentioned on the family tree born 1926  ???  ::)

Scotlands People - James Barclay Lamont - 1926 - 168/1 37 - St Nicholas

If there was a death notice in the Glenrothes Gazette or you could contact that newspaper, it might give the names of relatives.

Hi "again" all. Had one or two health problems, but nearly O.K. now. Have been watching in the background over the "missing" time.
This thread caught my interest.

"Same refs and details showing for her under the surname of Reid...and Paterson. Looks like she remarried after husband Joseph's death?"
She was a widow when she married Joseph.

The 1971 Kennoway marriage looks like the one.

I would agree with the "James" actually being the supposed "Raymond".

There is a "Margaret Reid Lamont" born 1924 St Nicholas possible sister.

It's good to be contributing again.

Regards

Flattybasher.

Hi everyone. I’ve been searching for this branch of the family for years. Joseph Ballard Lamont junior would have been a first cousin of my mother. Thanks for sharing all the info however I hadn’t seen that death certificate before. I thought Raymond the younger son would have been the informer . Will be looking into this as I have photos of Raymond and the father in the 1950s. Thanks again for the info. ....And thanks for sharing about Joseph Ballard Lamont.

Came across this Joe was my uncle, reading through the posts you are slightly on the wrong track, he never had a sister called Margaret, but Jim was a brother, he had 4 brothers and 3 sisters, 2 brothers and 2 sisters are still alive.
