Title: James Alexander Motton
Post by: aussie41353 on Monday 17 July 17 06:55 BST (UK)
James Alexander Motton was born to James Motton and Ann George on the 14th Oct 1791, St Mary, Lambeth, Surrey.
I am trying to ascertain if James and Ann had any other children in Surrey. I have no dates as to where or when James Motton and Ann George were married nor do I have any knowledge as to when they died.

Would be for ever grateful if I could obtain an answer to this query.

Thanking you,

Leigh

Thank you so much.

If I may ask for further information of James Alexander Motton's sister "Mary Ann Motton born Cornwall.

It is believed she married James Syson Nibbs, if I could have details of their marriage and any other relevant info you may be able to shed on James Syson Nibbs who, I believe, was also born in Surry. Thanking you once again,

Leigh

I can't see a marriage of Mary Ann Motton to James Syson Nibbs.  :-\

In 1851 the only one I can see bn c 1820 Lambeth, Surrey is married to a Maria with children Charles James & Emily Wallett (sic) Nibbs - their birth registrations give mothers maiden surname as Woollett

Is this the correct James Nibbs  :-\

I see Trish has replied but I will still post this  ;D

First 'Motton' in Australia - James Alexander Motton born 14 October 1791, Surrey England, died 19 December 1881 Beaconsfield Tasmania Australia. Arrived Hobart Town November 1819 on board the Regalia - first passenger only ship to Van Diemens Land (no convicts on board). Married to Mary Ann (Williams) in 1818 England. First son Robert George born 23 October 1819 - one month prior to arrival in Tasmania. They had 9 children. James Alexander Motton is my x3 great grandfather. His second son William Walter had 13 children - one son William Peacock Motton was my grand mother's father's (Lily Motton). Sadly William Peacock Motton had only one son, William Henry born 1890 - he joined the A.I.F. and left Syndey to serve in World War ! on 17.6.1918 and I have no other information regarding his life from this date. No Mottons remain in Tasmania (that I am aware of) - descendants of Robert George live imainly in Victoria. I would love any information relating to any Mottons, either within Australia or the U.K.

Hello Kathryn
My name is Anne & have information on William Henry (Billy) Motton. Billy's mother, Elizabeth, is my husband's great aunt. I've been researching family history since early 1980s. Hoping to hear from you soon.
