Title: Look up please Corbett
Post by: tresario on Tuesday 18 July 17 06:28 BST (UK)
Hello
Please can you tell me the children of James Corbett and wife Ann and any other information available.
Their daughter Jane Corbett is my 3x Grandmother. Born in 1813 st Peter's Worcester. I'm sure there would be other siblings, I also think mom Ann's surname was Hick.
Please can you help?

Hi
Can I just add that the baptisms give James's occupation as an ostler /groom and they are living at Wilds Lane for Jane ,the Butts for Ann,Fish St Sarah and Bank St for the rest.
witnesses to the marriage Thomas Corbett and Elizabeth Slick.

The 1841 census has Bank St
Robert Higgins 26 chemist n
Ann 25 y
Henry Corbett 15 y
William 15 y
Frederick 12 y

So it looks like Ann has married Robert Higgins and her brothers are living with her.Frederick ended up a steel pen nip polisher in Birmingham on latter censuses.
There's a Ann daughter of James Corbett stable keeper who married Robert Thomas Higgins chemist of 28 Regent St  s of Robert  chemist 24.2.1840 at Leamington Priors.

Martha is working as a servant to James Coates woolen draper in the Cornmarket.

There's a newspaper report of a James Corbett of Bank St,a youth,  ill using his mother an elderly woman 27 Dec 1838 in the Worcestershire Chronicle. He threatened her with a knife and demanded money.he got a month in gaol. Not so nice.

It does suggest that James senior is already dead so perhaps he's the one on the NBI 1789-14.11.1833 at St Andrews Worcester.
