Have been following the search for the Naturalisation Record for Henry B. and was wondering what information was available on these records. Have a man of French heritage, Naturalised in 1899, who married one of my Grandfather's sisters, that I would like to know more about, but don't want to request a look up and waste the donated time if it won't provide any worthwhile details.
Cheers

Hi Heather,
Having just acquired a Naturalization file recently i can tell you that the applicant was asked to provide their name, age, occupation, place of birth, residence, and length of time lived in the colony.
The file usually includes a covering letter and sometimes a brief note from a friend or employer who couches for the applicant.
If you want to see an example feel free to PM me with your email address.

The 1880 Aliens Act makes interesting reading.

Its operation was modified by the Immigration Restriction Act of 1899.

Thank you Spades, will take you up on that offer.
Johnf04, Thanks for the links, Section 3 of the Immigration Restriction Act, Persons Prohibited, is quite clear in who's is not welcome!

Spades,
Thank you for the Exemplar, will show who supported his application and more about his background.
Can I order a look up here or do I need to start a new thread?
Here are the details, if this works, hope they are the needed ones.

Thank you very much Spades, much appreciated, he seemed to spell his name with an "O" not an "A" . In the unlikely event you need anything looked up in the Napier/Hastings areas just ask.
