Title: wiltshire militia look up request
Post by: heart247 on Friday 21 July 17 17:01 BST (UK)
I am trying to find any information on my gggg great grandfather.
William Scott. he was born about 1774. He was married 14 Jan 1798 in St Mary's Truro, Cornwall to Dorothy Pascoe. His marriage license says he was a soldier in the wiltshire militia
In 1804 he was a widower and married again to Ann Skues (by Banns) but does not say if he is still a soldier.
Thank you! Any help is very much appreciated!

Well all I have come up with is a transcription of the Napoleonic War Records 1775 - 1817

The year is 1803, William Scott of the 66th Foot, status is given as substitute, county is Wiltshire.  The reference is E182/1099(pt2).

There is no image to look at which may give further information.  As I have never looked at any Napoleonic War Records no idea what information would appear on the original document.

This was from Find My Past.

Not sure if this is your William, but there is a baptism on 17th April 1774 at St. Denys Church, Warminster.

Parents are Robert and Betty.
