Hello ,
Today I want to research my Scottish ancestors from Edinburgh, Midlothian.
I would like to know the birth dates or baptism dates, parents names and origin of the peolpe below.
Peter WESTON b. 7/4/1778 in Edinburgh to Laurence WHISTON or WESTON and Elisabeth SHARP . I can not find a birth for a Laurence Whiston or Weston . I've found a Elisabeth SHARP b.13/6/1739 in Edinburgh to James SHARP and Ann MCDONALD and I'm not 100% sure if she is the right one i am looking for.
I have also other Scottish ancestors but I want to do it step by step .

I'm looking for Information about my ancestors Elisabeth Sharp and Catherine Livingston from Edinburgh, Midlothian.
I don't know exactly when Elisabeth Sharp was born but I think she was born in Edinburgh. Her son was Peter Weston or Whiston and her husband was Laurence Whiston . Is there a Marriage for this couple ? Peter is the only knowing child of this couple and was born on the 7 april 1778 in Edinburgh.
Catherine Livingston b. 1/3/1713 in North Leith , Edinburgh, the daughter of James Livingston and Katharine Wardrope. I can not find a marriage for James and Katharine.
I would appreciate it very much if someone can help me and has the parents names and origins of the peolpe above .

Thanks for your help ;) I'm not a Member of SP, the baptism record for Peter Whiston is from Familysearch. But is it possible that the Surname changed from Houston to Whiston and than to Weston ? But the period of time would fit in with the marriage of Elisabeth Sharp and Laurence Houston.

Without seeing the original on SP it's difficult to imply anything as names differed so much with transcription errors/accents etc. as things were noted how they sounded i.e. not always correct.

Looks likely to have been either mistranscribed or written how it sounded although it does appear to be the correct Peter?
Always better to check the original as the Index is transcribed & as you can see from the list of births above, many variants ;)

Are there birth records for the parents , James Livingston and Katharine Wardrope born in Edinburgh ?
On familysearch is the family Elizabeth Sharp and Laurence Houston and their Children so maybe another family and not my ancestors? Is there a birth for a Elisabeth Sharp in Edinburgh?

SP (www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk) is FREE to join, Index is FREE but requires credits at very low cost for originals which works out at £1.50 each.
FS (familysearch) transcribed the originals from SP.
