Thank you so much Sandra for this very quick response.  I can't quite make out the writing for burial place.  I don't know if anyone else can.  Does anyone know if he had a headstone?  It looks like he was buried on 17 December - over 2 weeks after he died. I suppose this may have been standard for someone who hadn't died of natural causes?

Many thanks, I really appreciate your post.

Best Wishes :)

Hopefully someone will find a newspaper article with an account of the accident.  Perhaps there was an inquest or enquiry.

Wow!  Thank you Sandra for going to the trouble of providing all this extra info.  It would be great if there is a newspaper article about the accident.  James brother Thomas also had a mine accident in Wallsend, Northumberland, England.  He broke his leg but survived.

One of James' sons was baptised at a Roman Catholic Church in Willington, Northumberland when his family were living in New York Village, Northumberland.  I can't remember exactly which son but I have this somewhere.  I found his son's baptism record at Tyne and Wear Archives.

I really appreciate your posts Sandra. You are so kind to have sent all this! :)

Wow Again! Thanks so much - I have just seen the obituary for Michael.  This is great to be able to see such detailed information about my Great Grandfather's nephew!  This really adds to what I have on my ancestors.  Greatly appreciated!

You are so kind Sandra. :)

You would think the burial was local to where he died.  Wondering if it is Fayette County (Old) Cemetery-- South Union Townsh  ??? An older county cemetery was used up until about 1933 or so and is located in South Union Township.

There are reportedly thousands of burials in this cemetery with no records or markers.

Perhaps there would be no marker for James  :'(  Perhaps worth asking

Although James and Rose are not listed it could be worth asking at this Cemetery.

This was the place of burial on the death certificate for Rose Conroy - 23 August 1909 Slavish Cem.
Looks identical to that of James Conroy - her father.

Could it be the one listed on this link  ???

Slavish   Connellsville Twp   St. Emery's RC (Old)   ???
