Sunflower......Sorry had no other information, as my father in law Joseph Percy was their youngest child of 7 children, he was born April 30th 1909.........I know he grew up on Rawson Street Basford at his parent's Post office and he said he came from Bulwell, so I presumed they ran a Post Office there as well......Henry and Clara are the right names for his parents.....also they could have had 6/7 children in 18 years, as I believe that Clara's first born, a girl was probably born before she married Henry, the other 6 were all boys - Hearsay is that Clara was from a family of Irish Gypsies....... thanks

Cannot post details of 1911 Census but have found a Joseph Percy Taylor, age 2 at Rawson Street - but parents' details don't quite fit initial post?

Re. the GRO birth registration a Joseph Taylor married a Clara Jane Spencer at Bulwell (church of St. Mary the Virgin and All Souls) on 27 May 1890. These fit Census information previously found.

The description of Joseph Percy Taylor as the youngest of 7 children certainly fits Census information previously found.

He was born Joseph Percy Taylor 30th April 1909, he said he was born at Bulwell, where I do not know, but I know he grew up on Rawson Street New Basford Nottm., the youngest of 7 children to Henry and Clara Taylor - They did not come from Yorkshire....  I have learned that he had an older sister, (the first born) and there was a Douglas, a Charlie and a Harry amongst the 6 brothers as I can remember........

The 1911 census has just this one family on Rawson St, Basford, with a 2 year odl son of the right name.

Dad is Joseph. Mum is from Yorkshire. The order and gender of children would tie in the two posts above this one. The Post Office isn't mentioned!

Ok...Maybe this one is him using the name he used in 1911:

1901

25, Bradford Street, Bulwell

Joseph Taylor   33 m. Hosiery Trimmer
Clara T Taylor   32
Ethel Taylor   10
Harry Taylor   7
Horace Taylor   5
Ernest Taylor   7/12

I think the "T" should be "J"

All born in Nottingham apart from Clara who was born in Yorkshire.

Annie and Treetotal - Many thanks for your help - the names and dates of the children listed are right, but I did not Know Clara was born in Yorkshire and I thought granddad's name was Henry, so I was wrong there - I thought that they were all Nottingham people.......Maybe that is where the gypsy link comes in.........There was an Ethel, Horace, Ernest, Harry, Douglas, Charles and Joseph, not necessarily in that order........So they did originally live in Bulwell first, then to Rawson Street, New Basford........many thanks again for your help....
