Title: Miss Brown's school 1920s Kempston?
Post by: Opal on Thursday 27 July 17 16:10 BST (UK)
I have 2 photos of my uncles, aged approx 4 and 6 years of age.  They are in a school uniform of shorts, white shirt and a horizontally, wide striped tie.  Written in the album is 'dressed for school at Miss Brown's'.  The images were taken in approx 1921/22.  Their home was in Kempston.  I have searched for info on this ?infants school with no luck.
Does anyone know of a Miss Brown's School of this era in Kempston or Bedford?  Thank you.

From an account in the Bedfordshire Times of 13 July 1923 regarding a local fete... "The following schools were amongst the helpers: the four Harper Secondary schools, Crescent House School, Rushmoor, Howard, Miss Francis' school & Miss Brown's school...."

Thank you for the reply.  The eldest boy was born in February 1916 and his brother in 1918 (my uncles) so this date fits in well with when the photo was taken or thereabouts.  I still haven't found where it was situated but the family lived in Spring Road, Kempston then so I don't think it was far from there.
