Title: Maddy Pipton/Glasbury
Post by: Angie Probert on Sunday 30 July 17 16:24 BST (UK)
Hi,
Some of my main line PROBERT were living at Gwernyfed Glasbury at this stage and John Probert 1789 - 1823 both Glasbury had a relationship with Mary Maddy b 1796 Clyro that resulted in the birth of Harriet Maddy b. 1816 Glasbury. Harriet was baptised at Maes yr Onnen Chapel not St Peters Glasbury and I have found a possible death entry for her in the Hay area for 1839.
John left a will stating that Harriet was to be given money for her education.
I was told many years ago that he was also married but have not got any more details than that.
Has anyone got any info on these three in their tree?
Many thanks

Hi Angie
The will of John Probert dated 1828 of Glasbury, which leaves money to his natural daughter Harriet Maddy is available here:
http://hdl.handle.net/10107/14920
It names all the family members he also leaves money to, but doesn't seem to be a mention of a wife or other children?

There are two marriages in Glasbury for John Probert
1808 to Elizabeth Lewes (of the parish of Glasbury)
1810 to Jane Snead (but this John is from Talgarth)

Looking at the 1808 marriage, John Probert signs his name (attached image). The will is also signed (attached image). Could there be any similarity - I'm not sure?

Thank you so much - the J's are very different so now the task is to find more John Probert signatures and compare them.
Many thanks for your help
