Over the last few years many local newspapers have been added to British Newspaper archive. Unfortunately as far as I can see the coverage for North Hampshire is not good. The only paper I can see is Hampshire Chronicle from circa 1772 until 1909, which has some coverage. It would be useful if this one source could have coverage extended until 1950. Two further titles which would help enormously are Hants & Berks Gazette and Newbury Weekly News (which also covers West Berkshire). If anybody wants more coverage of North Hants you can vote for new papers to be added, I'm not sure how much notice is taken of votes though. You can vote whether you have a subscription or not. The link below should take you to the page to vote for Hants & Berks Gazette.

Not in my opinion!
I had feared that the Newbury Weekly News would not feature on-line in my lifetime but my prayers have been answered! It seems that the process has recently started, Edition No. 153 - 6 January 1870 - onwards, which is the injection I needed to become research active again: wonderful in-depth news reporting from its inception.
Kingsclere has its own section ..... :)
