My Gt Grand-mother Sarah Elizabeth Evans (widow) married Robert Brown (widower) 30th Oct 1867 at St Bartholomews Salford Lancashire.
Roberts occupation was stated as Engineer & his father was named as Thomas Brown deceased Joiner. 8D 81 332
In the 1901c they are listed as living in West Bank St, Salford RG13/184/38
Robert Brown (H) 49 -Whitehaven
Sarah E Brown (W) 49 -Edinburgh
Harry Brown (S) 12- Salford
Samuel Hall boarder 25- "
I have found a Robert Brown ch. 3 June 1850 Aspatria to a Thomas /Margaret Brown but don't know if this is him.
Robert obviously was married previously & I don't know who his wife was or any issue/ siblings.
There is a recorded death Salford 1927 which is possibly him 8D447 109
Any help with finding the correct Robert Brown plus a 1st marriage/family would be appreciated.

If Robert was allegedly born in 1851/2, then he would have been only 17 at his 2nd marriage to Sarah?
And Sarah was the same age and a widow?
-
Did the marriage take place in 1897? If it did then 12 year old Harry must be a son from Robert's first marriage.

Apologies that should have read 1897.

Yes the marriage was 1897 (my mistake) & as my Gt Grandma was a Domestic Housekeeper I wonder if she initially worked for Robert.
My Gt Grandma Sarah (known as Bessie) was previously married to George Evans & they had 5 children between 1870 & 1879. The last one being my Grandmother Emma.

That narrows it down a bit at least

I have found a HARRY BROWN baptism at St Bartholomews Salford 1891(same church as Robert & Sarahs marriage) however this one has parents William & Mary.I have looked back on the parish records of this church for any other HARRY BROWNS but there are no others.
Will keep looking at other possible churches.

That is interesting because I suppose cabinet maker/joiner could be one & the same thing to some people. We have a cabinet maker in the family present day & some speak of him as a joiner!!
Whose birthplace given as Glasgow? Robert or Thomas

Wow! So they are connected to Ireland,Scotland & England.
Funny but in the 1901c where Robert states he was born Whitehaven it lists a son age 12 named Harry Brown b.Salford.
There at 2 listed in BMD b.Salford
One in 1890 with mmn of MOORES & one in 1891 with mmn JACKSON.
I am still looking for the previous wife of Robert Brown who was a widower when he married my Gt Grandma Sarah Elizabeth Evans.
