Looking for any information on Patrick O'Halloran, who died at Mary Annett's home, Main South Road, Tinwald. Patrick possibly lived around the Hinds, Rakaia area as a farmer and also mentioned as a Railway Servant. He had been in New zealand 55 years and likely related to Mary Annett whose maiden name was O'Connor. Both families originally from County Cork Ireland. Details from Death Certificate. He is buried at Ashburton Cemetery, Free Catholic Area.
Any help very much appreciated, as i have no other information.
Thank you

Siouxann, does the death certificate indicate that he was, or had been, married?

Thank you for your replies, i didn't have the Papers Past notice.
Mary and Charles Annett were my late husband's grandparents and his
Father (Percy James) Jim was the son injured in the fatal car accident. As we live in the North Island we did not have contact with Mary Annett neeO'Connor. She would have been about 48 yrswhen Patrick died at her place. He was 80 ..
I love the Probates, with lots of information.
Also there is no indication at all on Death Certificate that he was married. He died of heart failure and was enfeebled..

Hi Siouxann
Looking at Electoral rolls, it seems that Patrick O'HALLORAN was > from 1900 to 1919 > resident at Mitcham (Mid-Canterbury) and listed as a "platelayer" (railways).
In 1938 he is listed on the Canterbury > Temuka Supplementary* roll, residing at Main Road, Temuka, Occupation: Retired.
Being on this Supplementary roll, suggests that he was a recent arrival in this District.
Don't know if you already have this ?
From 1925 - Mr. P. 0'HALLORAN of Mitcham - retirement function.

There are several Patrick O'HALLORAN's - need to check again - but don't think I spotted one in South Island who was a farmer.

Thank you Lu
I did not have any of this information and it looks really interesting. His Death cert said retired Railway Servant, the Ashburton Cemetery had Farmer?...
Will look at the Electoral Rolls again and the Papers PAst did not mention family, which all fits, hopefully getting a correct picture of his life...
Thank you
