I have Alexander Sharp from Clackmannanshire born around 1790 as my 4th Great Grandfather.
He married Christian Ross 1789 - 1869 on 4th July 1807.
I'm wondering if any member has been able to identify who Alexander's parents were?
-
What year did he die?
-
Unfortunatly I couldn't find a death certificate.
-
What is the last census you have him on?
What is the first census where Christian is shown as a widow?

Where were they married & were they both OTP?

i have him in the 1841 Census and Christian is marked as Head in the 1851 census living in Sauchie. That's if it's the correct Sharps..
They married in Clackmannanshire.

You haven't answered Carole's question whether Christian was a widow?
Being 'Head' doesn't necessarily mean being widowed as they may have just been separated?
Were both 'of this parish' when they married?

Was he alone (& where) or were there others...wife/children, was he recorded as being born in that Parish ???
Can you please give as much detail as possible.
What was Christian's place of birth on the 1851?

Forgive me but could you give me time to edit and reply? :). Struggling with an old phone and bad connection.
Christian was a widow on her death certificate. The rest of the information is all I know at this stage.

Ahhh.... Apologies as I was editing too which doesn't show up on the home page ;D ::)
Ok, so Christian died 1869 i.e. you need to find out what her marital status was back in 1851?
And of course the details for 1841 regarding where Alexander was, where born (Y or N) & occ.
Annie

Wow, this is going back the furthest I've experienced in my Ancestry to date.
Usually I'm stuck at Irish records late 1790s on my Sherry side..

Yes for a base to start a new project. I had a look on Ancestry this evening and the Clackmannan Sharps seem to be popular for members there.
Most have got the Sharps back to 1585. However I will take the information with a pinch of salt as looking at the information without my own eyes on the records, people are showing up with Sharps marrying Sharps etc. Perhaps cousins.. I hope..
The furthest Sharp I currently see on Ancestry is:
John Sharp ( 1585- 1606 )
Married
Elizabeth Hunter (1589 -1616)
Clackmannan still the location of the Sharps.
If information is correct then Im at 10th GG level.
