Same question as on your Hannah Stace post (Hannah born 1814)
Why do you think Maria was illegitimate?
she married a Timothy Baker 1825 Ewhurst would like more info on her please
Have you looked for her on the 1841/1851 censuses?
-
I have all the info on her birth being illegitimate also my 5x grandmother Mary was married at the time to George Branscombe Kate
-
So Mary was Brancsombe at the time of the birth - not Hutchinson
Have you looked for Maria on the 1841/51 censuses
-
haven't had any luck yes sorry Mary was Mary Branscombe Kate
-
The 1841 entry is correctly spelt and the family are in Ewhurst
-

Maria Stace, baptized 5 January 1806, Ewhurst
Parents John + Sarah
No Samuel.

I have found a Hannah Maria Stace better do some more searching Many thanks Kate

Sarah Stace is with the Bakers in 1841. That's Timothy, Maria and family.
Most likely Maria's mother
Also there are Walter Stace, Charlotte Stace. I think two more children of John + Sarah.
Kate is mixing all these people up. They have no connection to Mary Branscombe.

If Maria was born 1805 - then Mary Hutchinson was not married to George Branscombe at that time
See Family Search
Name George Branscombe
Spouse's Name Mary Hutchinson
Event Date 03 Aug 1808
Event Place Hastings, All Saints, Sussex, England
You are researching the wrong parents

That settles it! Great find.

Yes I knew Maria was born before Mary Married George Branscombe a lot of my information comes from church records and a family member in East Sussex Kate

Hi Kate,
The marriage in 1825 gives her name as Mary but no further details. Census records show that she is much younger than Timothy. The fact that Sarah Stace is with them in 1841 would imply that she is Maria's mother as CaroleW has said. Your informant may have got it wrong so worth double checking.
For future reference it would help us avoid duplication if you could tell us what you already know in your initial request.
Membership of the Sussex Family History Group might help you a lot as they have online records for members.

Bastardy Order on Samuel Stace, from 1820
indexed on The Keep

But, as I have said, I do not believe that Samuel Stace of Hastings is connected to Maria and Hannah.

As Maria Stace is the focus of this thread you are presumably directly linked to her and that she married Timothy Baker in 1825.
Again, as clearly stated already, Maria was the dau. of John Stace and wife Sarah and indeed her mother and siblings are living with the Baker's in 1841 census so finding it hard to comprehend why you are mentioning these other people who are nothing to do with Maria herself directly.
