Title: Richard Davis, Booterstown, Co Dublin
Post by: ourgang on Monday 21 August 17 11:04 BST (UK)
My laptop died with my full family research lost! Silly me..no back up. But I have pieced together a lot and this morning am trying to trace the father of my Great grandmother Mary Anne Davis. I always assumed the Davis family were from Wicklow (because my McGuirk family came from Wicklow about 1850) but I found the baptism of Mary Anne Davis at Booterstown Roman Catholic Church on 5 August 1849 parents Richard Davis and Bridget Carroll. I can ascertain from these records that they had at least nine children . Mary Anne Davis went on to marry my Gt grandfather Edward McGuirk on 17 October 1871.
Family lore says Richard Davis was a stevedore in and out of Liverpool so I don't know if he was Irish or English. Does anyone have a Richard Davis on their tree?? I am assuming that the Davis family lived in or around Blackrock, Co Dublin.

Thank you Dathai and Maggsie for your great help.

Maggsie you ask "Do you own a tree acon175?". As I don't know what it is the answer must be No! I had a very old 2005 Ancestry tree which I never registered and used it as stand alone on the now dead laptop!I am hoping that someone at a computer shop will be able to get the laptop going long enough for me to copy what I had done.(On and off for ten years).
I have an attic full of hand written notes in no particular order!!!The road to laptop death is paved with good intentions of backing up work!!!
