Hello,
I've been puzzling over my 4xgr-grandmother Ellen Tevenan for several years now. If anything, I'd simply like to pinpoint the county that she heiled from.
Here's what I have to go on....
1851 Manchester, England census -
- Ellen Tevenan b1801 Ireland, listed married, but then widowed in 1861 census
-- Catherine b1826 Ireland
-- James b1828 Ireland marries Bridget Tevening b1836 Ireland
-- Ellen b1832 Ireland (my 3xgr-grandmother) marries Patrick Fahey/Foy b1825 Ireland. Ellen lists John Tevenan as her father on marriage certificate.
-- Anne b1834 Ireland
I've checked the GV but they had probably left Ireland during the famine, so pre-GV.
I've checked FamilySearch and the IrishGenealogy site Church records, again, no matches are coming up.
So a bit stumped. It seems an obscure surname, are there any Tevenan family tree researchers out there? ;D
Many thanks, Yvie

Aha. That seems a very strong hint indeed!! Though it's fifty years apart from my relatives....is it safe to assume they are the same family?
And I wonder if there is any way of linking back/forward to them in 1901....
Thank you, for now I'm very happy with a fairly strong County Galway link for this uncommon surname. ;D

http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/1082 would be the Parish (I think!!).....

It is not safe to assume anything, but you have a few birth years and there is a basic Filter there for Baptisms and Year....
Plus it might be a Red herring..... ( and they eat them in Galway!! ;D )

Am on the case, red herrings or not! Thank you :)

Galway seems to be the source for many trees on Ancestry.... How accurate they are I do not know.

Irishgenealogy Birth, Marriage and Death results for Tevenan 1800s might join some of the dots on 1901 Census http://www.rootschat.com/links/01klf/
Glenamaddy Reg Office would be same area

Nice one.... yes variations in spellings have to be considered too. Luckily they seem to be confined to a small area of Ireland, as a starting point!!
