Hi. I am looking for information on Sophie Friederica Maria Bernhard b. 1858 d. 1946 and her husband Johannes Asmus Amussen. They were residing in Altona Hamburg and the time of Sophie's death. I am researching the Bernhard Family. Sophie had a brother Heinrich Johannes Christian Bernhard. Their parents were Peter Heinrich Wilhelm Bernhard and Maria Magdalena Christina Koster. They were from Kappeln. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi
I took a look in the Danish records and found these. My German is pretty non-existant unfortunately but these should help:
1860 - Sophia with sister and father, no mother: https://www.danishfamilysearch.com/cid8887676 - with comment "aber Hausbesitzer: Claus Jorgen Tarkel"
1840 - Peter and his family: https://www.danishfamilysearch.com/cid6456936
1860 - Maria Magdalena Bernhard with new husband: https://www.danishfamilysearch.com/cid8887677 - at the house of Claus Tarkel
Here is the link to the database: https://www.danishfamilysearch.com/search/

Hi Ian
Thank you so much for finding this information. I worked out by looking at the census, Maria was still married to Peter but they put her on a different page. I think they all lived at the same address. So excited to find another sister. Think there are more siblings as my ancestor was born in 1867. If only they had the 1870 census.

Hi
Here is the original 1860 Census record (bottom right):

Who was your ancestor born 1867?
I don't think there is an 1870 Census online unfortunately.

My ancestor is Heinrich Johannes Christian BERNHARD b 1867 in Kappeln. He came out to Australia in 1885.

Hi
There is a "Bernhard, Heinrich Johannes Christian" in the list "B" born 1867 as a seaman to Australia escaping military service (though in 1895) at:

Thanks Ian. Are these records indexed or do you have to look at each image individually.

Unfortunately you'll have to go through each page - no index.
