I am trying to decipher the writing after the signature of William Marwood who was a witness at George's marriage ..... any ideas?
-
It looks rather like Jun'r, but it's a bit too faint to be 100% certain. Any clues in the 1871 census?

I wonder if they popped his occupation down for some reason - it looks a bit, but not exactly, like painter :-\
Never seen a witness occupation before but there's always a first time!

I think that it is junior as well - looking at the original online it seems to be jun with a flourish at the end possibly for an r.
William

I think it most likely is "junior". Thanks for all your help.
