hi im trying to find the death date of mary ann kent born gloucester  1831.
she  married a christopher wood .....

then in 1881 in alison street

then i thought she was in the workhouse in 1891 and 1901 down as being born in gloucester and also being a charwoman . i obtained the death certificate of her in 1903 i think imagine my surprise her spouse was a alfred wood  and she died in the workhouse so think the workhouse one is a red herring . any info greatly received

No - you are trying to find the death of Mary Ann Wood

Deserted her or died?  Is she shown as a widow in 1871 and 1881?

In the absence of a death - have you looked to see if she re-married?

sorry my mistake on 1881 it look like it say w so presume widow.
nb just a query
this is caroline wood marriage certificate , christopher wood is down as euaiucler ?? and not down as deceased ?? is this unusual ?

No - very much dependant on how the vicar asked the question.  If they just asked for fathers name then that's what went on the cert if no more info was volunteered by the bride.   

Have you looked for a death for Christopher?  Is Mary a widow in 1871 as you say he is not in household at that time.

Yes - she is a widow in 1871

yes she down as a widow and  there a christopher wood down in april 1869 which would tie in with 1871 census

that was the first one i looked at spouse is wrong on certificate    :(
