Post by: Peter Cockerill on Wednesday 30 August 17 13:59 BST (UK)
Dear Friends

I am seeking the record of marriage of Rev John Owen and Charlotte Green at Cambridge on 01.09.1794.

John was a fellow of Corpus Christi

Thank you in anticipation.

Peter

The marriage appears on Pallots Marriage Index but with very little information -- just the names - the year 1794 -- and the Parish 'Cambridge'.Very unhelpful.

John's death and memorial is on Find a Grave site, but I expect you know that.

Also amongst 'Select Marriages where John is shown as  Rev John Owen Clark!

Many thanks Pennines,

I expect the 'Clark' reference is a mistake and meant 'Clerk' as in Holy Orders

For the record poor Rev John Owen was subsequently re-interred at  All Saints Fulham

There is a note on the Pallotts record in brackets fr St Edmunds.

It looks like the marriage was by licence, comes up on free index search on FindMyPast

there is no record on SEAX of him actually being buried in Paglesham churchyard, I think this is just a memorial tablet put up in the church where he served as rector for a long time and was well respected. Charlotte's will expresses her wish to be buried with her husband in Fulham church. Unfortunately the relevant years of the two deaths are not on ancestry

Very many thanks Lizziel - so not a re-interment for Rev John.

Was the note in Pallotts on St Edmunds referring to a St Edmunds church or college at Cambridge do you know?

Best wishes,
Peter

Sorry, just rechecked it says St Edwards not St Edmunds. Possibly her parish.

Yes the Find a Grave site does have a photo of a Memorial - which looks like it may be on the wall at Paglesham. It does also say 'burial' on the general record though --- sorry if this was misleading -- but I believed it!!

Find My Past also has this record from Boyds Marriage Index!

Ok so two churches; St Edward & St Benedict presumably one being the groom's and the other the bride's.

Thank you Pennines really helpful
