Post by: heathera1940 on Monday 04 September 17 11:45 BST (UK)
Hi there
I am looking for a marriage between  Alexander Dumble born c 1809 Berwick on Tweed and Frances Thompson born c 1811  also Berwick on Tweed. Also Alexander's parents William Dumble born c 1783 Berwick and Deborah Sidey born c 1781 Berwick. Any info would be much appreciated
Thanks Heather

Hi Heather,
May I ask where you got Thompson as Frances maiden name?
I checked some of the childrens GRO Index Birth Reg's and the Mothers mn is WOOD.

Or do you have a Birth Cert and Frances was married before to a Thonpson?

I did notice a ROBERT Dumble Bapt 11 Nov 1827 Tweedmouth,
Parents of Alexander DUMBLE and Rachel CLARK
Register note; illegitimate son, father: Bachelor, mother: Spinster

1851 a WILLIAM Dumble c 1784 is living next door to this Robert Dumble/Wife/Child.
(Wife appears to be Isabella Wilson married 1849)

Hopefully someone can fin a Marriage c 1831-1833 (as you know 1st Son Williams Bapt 1833)
It may be a Irregular Marriage though.

Trish :)

Sorry got the name Wrong. It is Wood not Thompson. Rachael Clarke was my great maternal grandmother. Robert her illigitimate son was brought up by his paternal grandparents. Robert later moved to Edinburgh where his wife Isabella was born.
Thanks Heather

Have checked two booklets of irregular marriages put out by Northumberland & Dirham FHS, www.ndfhs.org.uk but no luck. Only a few records survive of irregular marriages.

Presume you have checked ScotlandsPeople?
