Says Tunbridge on the 1851Census :)
... and just "Kent" in 1861. He died in 1866. I wonder what the source is for a link to Edenbridge?

On his 2nd marriage (to Eliza Eyre, Kennington, 16 Jan 1844) his father was named as Thomas Lampon.
-
Thomas Lampon . (probable Father)... Edenbridge,, Fellmonger .took on an Apprentice Walter Holmden at Edenbridge 1808
A fellmonger was a dealer in hides or skins, particularly sheepskins, who might also prepare skins for tanning.
Thomas is shown as a Leather dresser on 1851 Census.
Thats the Edenbridge connection. Dodgy dates for Father and Son.

Thomas Lampon . (probable Father)...Bn 1798.. Edenbridge,, Fellmonger .took on an Apprentice Walter Homden at Edenbridge 1808
Thomas b1798 would have been too young to take on an apprentice in 1808 or to father Charles c1811.

Hello,
Just discoverd this forum after discovering that the census records showing that Charles was born in 'Tunbridge' (either Tonbridge or Tunbridge Wells I guess). Has anybody researched his birth family in Kent and got any further information?
Regards,
Giles Allen
