Hi everyone,
I've been trying on and off for years to find details on Ellen Amelia Surridge who is my Great Great Grandmother.
I have information from 1897 onwards when she married William Henry Lee, and I believe I have her census record from 1891, when she worked as a servant for William Bull in Tottenham.
She was born in Leek, Staffordshire but I have failed to find any records of the Surridge family in Leek around that time. Unfortunately I don't have her marriage certificate to see who her father was.
Any help anyone can offer would be much appreciated.

You really need the marriage certificate to confirm her father and be sure you are following the right family :-\

I wish my computer would speed up ;D
I can see Martha a Widow in Chelmsford in 1891 - a lodger without any of the children. Still looking for 1881
-
I think you will really need the marriage certificate as Rosie said because looking at this family they never seemed to move much out of the Chelmsford area so I can't see why Ellen was baptised in Leek
But saying that I think I have found them on the 1881 census under the name of Sowerhatts

She was born March qtr 1875 baptised September 1877. Father was a Coachman, I wonder who he was working for ::)

Thank you all so much for your quick help!
I also can't work out why she would've been born/baptised in Staffordshire. All my family on that side are from the Chelmsford/Essex area so it does seem odd.
Of the Surridge family mentioned on the 1871 census I can't locate any of them (parents or children) in 1881. By 1891 they all appear to be lodgers or servants in other households.
