Is their anywhere on-line that lets people pinpoint where houses are located in Monaghan?
I have a marriage certificate from 1873 and the residence is stated as
Dumlena or maybe Drumrena, Parish of Currin, Co. Monaghan. The Ulster Historical Society has a map showing Currin but is there anyway of locating the property?
Thanks
Robert

If the family were living in the same place at the time of Griffith's Valuation it might be possible to find the house.

This is land survey so only the lease holder is listed, which could for example be a grandmother of one of parties to the marriage you have.

Thanks, much appreciated

Suspect the townland could be Drumreenagh. Here’s the occupants in the 1901 census:

As Sinann has suggested, if you give us details of the specific family you are researching, we might be able to locate their property in Griffiths Valuation. Or if they arrived after that, it might be possible to locate it via the Valuation Revision records.

It is Kells

Thanks all,
Yes it is William Kells but there are 3 in Currin Parish which I why I asked about the actual location. Thanks for Hallmark putting up the other post.
Any thoughts about the exact location?
Thanks
Robert

There is only one William Kells in Drumreeagh Currin in Griffith's Valuation.
-
Thanks - Do you think that it looks the right place? Did they often spell by how it sounded?
Thanks
Robert

I say it's the same place.
Place name spellings often cause problems for officials and us common folk alike.
On the modern map it's spelt Drumrinagh.
-
Thanks. Is there any other information apart from House office and land that can be found from Griffiths? Like who else was living there on that date?
Thanks

I just noticed that there is a Drumlina in Drumreeagh on the map that Hallmark sent through earlier. I have tried to attach a screendump of this. Can I ask do the numbers reflect the Griffiths Valuation? The Griffiths valuation has the number 2 beside William Kells. Is that the same as the number 2 on the map?
Thanks
Robert

Drumlina is a different townland and has no Kells listed in Griffith's Valuation.

The thick orange line is the outline of each townland, the thinner orange lines are the outline of each farm.
