Title: Where are they after 1851 census?
Post by: carol02 on Sunday 17 September 17 12:08 BST (UK)
Hannah Holden age 60 born Marton and her neice Mary Mann Holden 29 born Wolston are both in Leamington Priors in 1851.
I  can't find either of them after that.  If anyone can come up with any answers, I would be grateful.

I am drawing a blank, sorry.

I see that Mary Mann Holden was baptised at Wolston on 27 Nov 1818, daughter of Elizabeth Holden.

From the Australia Marriage Index :

Mary Mann Holden m Richard Gilks 10 Mar 1856 Adelaide , South Australia

From the Death Index :

Mary Mann Gilks b abt 1818 d 8 Sep 1904 Adelaide - transcript says father Richard Gilks but that seems incorrect.

Edit : they married 10 Mar 1856 St Luke's Church, Adelaide , Mary a spinster aged 32. No parents' names given.

Hi,
I've done some ancestry work and where the trail suddenly goes cold it's often because the names have been transcribed incorrectly. Try varying the names and see if you get lucky.

Given that Mary Mann Gilks , nee Holden , was in Port Gawler, I'm wondering if this might be Hannah Holden's death :

Hannah Holden , single , b abt 1779, d 20 Nov 1864 Port Gawler.

I've not found them on a Passenger List yet. You could ask a Mod to move this thread to Australia where other RootsChatters may have access to records that I don't.

Thanks Christine for finding them in Australia.  I wondered whether they had emigrated.
