Hello
Just wanted to know if anyone out there could possibly help?
I'm looking for the location of 'Brook Lawn', Dublin which is shown as place of birth on my uncles birth certificate. The birth registration district is 'Dublin South No. 1'
Thank you
James

I don't think this is the same place in 1920 as the birth certificate states 'Dublin South No.1'
Current day would suggest this an area west of the city.
Thanks
James

"Brooklawn is in the Electoral Division of Palmerstown West, in Civil Parish of Palmerston, in the Barony of Uppercross, in the County of Dublin"
I think you may possibly be reading it wrongly?
It does not mention which area whether N/S/E/W in Dublin but it does mention the 'Electoral Division' being in 'Palmerston West' which is a Parish within the "County of Dublin".

It's south of the river that matters.

Thoms Directory shows Col Hackett still there in 1922

Strangely enough Col Hackett's wife Maria died in 1922 Registration District given as Clondalkin

You may be confusing the registration districts with the Dublin Postal districts

Thanks for all the replies:
Hallmark - Just wondered if this is also the same Birth Registration list for Dublin during that period (1920's)?
i.e. listing all areas under 'South Dublin No.1' for example?

There was also Brook Lawn in Donnybrook

In the above link there are two baptisms in 1900 Mary Anne Byers and Margaret Keogh both 16 Brook Lawn
On the 1901 Census the enumerator has integrated them into an area called Forty Acres,Donnybrook Road number 119

See Chapter ''The Village in my time ''
At the rear of P Breens Garage there were some old cottages and a big house called Brooklawn.
