Title: UK, Outward Passenger Lists - specific record
Post by: Charlie24 on Friday 22 September 17 03:29 BST (UK)
Can I please also ask for a look-up on the Passenger Lists leaving UK - I'm looking for my Great Aunt - Alice Maud Cottrell (unmarried, but may have had a child with her) born 1891 in Vaynor, Breckonshire. I have been told she left UK in 1921 for Sydney, Australia, but I am not certain they are the same person.

Looking at the free index on FindMyPast, there are these possible entries:

A Cottrell, b 1891, to Bombay India in 1920
Alice Cotterell, b1892, to New York in 1919
A T Cotterell, b1890, to Quebec in 1921

Here's the link to the National Archives of Australia's free to search INDEX for passenger arrivals.   :)  It is fairly comprehensive, but I am not sure if it includes every arrival.

Rosie says:
"Alice Maud Sarlow is on Electoral Rolls ..can find her up to 1968 at Newcastle N SW "

Interestingly, looking from 1968 onwards, there is no notice in Ryerson Index for Alice Maud SARLOW, but there are notices for 2016 for two people of that name both 'late of Bendigo' [Victoria] but as well as a Bendigo paper, in the Newcastle Herald.

?Descendants?   Fay Shirley SARLOW aged 89 and Raymond Charles SARLOW aged 91

Alice's daughter's marriage:

12686/1940 HICKS Denis James to SARLOW WINIFRED AUDREY NEWCASTLE

Her death: 105787/1980 HICKS Winifred Audrey parents WILLIAM and ALICE

There is a birth for a Winifred A Cottrell July -Sept 1919 Shropshire Bristol
Mothers maiden name Cottrell ..

An online tree has her birth as about 1919 and death age as 61.

She and husband were in Newcastle, but are not at Sandgate. They are possibly buried/cremated at Newcastle Memorial Park, which does not have an online index.

In response to a question by the OP

All NSW birth, death and marriage information comes from here:

https://familyhistory.bdm.nsw.gov.au/lifelink/familyhistory/search;jsessionid=ABD260B6BC3AE71E2F55DA5D847C62D1?0

It is free to search. You can search for births to 1917, deaths to 1987 and marriages to 1967, currently to September 23 of those years.

I do not use any fee-charging sites.

Many Thanks to everyone who has responded to this post.

I'm now convinced that this Alice Maud Cottrell is actually my Great Aunt.
Thanks again everyone
