Hello
I hope someone might be able to help.
I am looking for Ann Stephens born around 1843-1846, Clydach wife of Joseph Edmunds (of Caerbiggin, Five Roads, Llanelly) 1871 and earlier. On her marriage certificate in 1875 both are living at Vardre, Clydach, her age is given as 29. Her father is listed as David Stephens farm labourer. In 1881 and later they live in Llanwrtyd, Breconshire. I can trace Joseph back but not Ann
Thank you

Is it possible she was a little younger?
There is am Ann Stephen, father David in 1841 at Llangyfelach
HO107 1419/6/6/6
I think I have the same Ann in the other censuses.
Regards
Roger

A possibility. Her age does seem to vary. In 1875 born 1846 according to marriage certificate. In 1881 born 1843 according to census. Where does it say she was born in 1871?

Just says Glamorgan,I'm afraid, but working in Clydach.

I know it's not proof, just self consistency, but GRO gives mmn Lewis for the 1840 birth. There is an 1833 marriage of David Stephen to Anne Lewis(as per census) at Llangyfelach.

Thanks despair for all your help. It does seem the most likely match at the moment

I see that in two of the last three censuses she is given as born 1840.I'll see what age is given at death.

Roger

There is a possible in Builth registration district aged 90 in 1930,which would match.

Good spot. Perhaps she finally admitted to Joseph she wasn't as young as he thought she was when he married her!

Thanks. Joseph's death is also registered in Builth in 1906 which matches

Hello, forgot to say thanks for this. Didn't realise these were available, especially useful as my subscription to Ancestry has expired. Do you know if their census records are complete?
