Title: USA 1925 census
Post by: PAK on Sunday 01 October 17 18:03 BST (UK)
Occasionally I have seen references in Ancestry (or Findmypast, or maybe both) to the 1925 census in America, but there doesn't seem to be a direct link to use it in a search.

For example, my relative Effie Field and her husband Edward Field lived in Manhattan in 1915 at 253 West 15th Street. Can't find them in 1920 anyway, but I have a note that by 1925 (from other records) they had divorced, and “Effie” (recorded as “Effie Filde”) was a teacher, living at 238 West 20th Street, with their two children. Also in 1925 I know that he was living a block away at 352 West 19th Street. I know that Edward died in 1929 but would like to find out if he had remarried. So I thought I would check the 1925 census for the West 19th Street address, but can't find a way into the 1925 census to see if he was living with anyone.

It's not listed as an option in Ancestry or as an event in Findmypast. Yet I'm sure I have seen pages from the 1925 census in the past. Any thoughts?

If Edward had remarried again his spouse would have been named on the death certificate but he is described as divorced.

Many thanks to Sandra for the help - sorry I haven't acknowledged it earlier. I'm not a member of Ancestry but use the version at our local Library. However, it wouldn't let me in to the 1925 New York census. From the death certificate entry you kindly sent, I agree that he would not have remarried, but I was wondering if he was living with someone else or alone in 1925.
Anyway, it's not a major stumbling block - he's not a blood relative - so I will leave that as a "Loose End" for the time being.

This Edward Field - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KS36-4T8 - was living at 239 W. 21st St., which would be relatively close to the other addresses you mentioned.  The head of the household was Patrick Mulcahy, and there were three other men (from Poland, Scotland, and Switzerland) who were roomers.  He had been in the US for 18 years and was noted to be an alien.
