Title: Number 50 on a birth cert
Post by: dathai on Monday 02 October 17 18:09 BST (UK)
Would anyone know the significance of the number 50 written below informant mother on a birth cert
James O'Neill born 14th Oct 1874
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1874/03127/2146840.pdf

I do not know how old Jane was she married John O'Neill in 1872
John was born Carlow circa 1834
second marriage here
https://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/display-pdf.jsp?pdfName=st_andrews_mf_1838-1880_ma_0429

I cannot find any trace of John or Jane after this

I believe this to be James in 1901 age 20 ?

likewise i cannot find James after 1901

Possibly ties up to a list of corrections held at the register office?

Maybe a corrected spelling mistake in the register?

Thanks Hallmark but dont think so, John was a Clerk on his marriage cert and sons baptism

Dawnsh
the registrar usually refers to mistakes by column number ,i think the informants column is number 7 he would have indicated this.

The Irish Genealogy site is free you dont sign up you sign in and solve the captcha i believe for privacy.

see reply #1, it's an annotation with regards to the removal of words/numbers under the name.

Somewhere in the register will be corrections numbered 49 and 51

Thank's Dawnsh
i have been doing Genealogy for about 25yrs and never came across this before, one of my great grand fathers death's had him registered as female and there was a number listed outside the columns on the cert so i asked at G R O what was it and they said statutory declaration to change to male other than that i have not seen it.
