I am looking for the parents of Sarah CASWAY born abt 1802 Hemyock Devon - died 1874 Yarcombe Devon. She married Thomas North 1819.
Can anyone help please ?

Not sure if it is of any help, but if you look at the image of the marriage on FamilySearch the two witnesses are Thomas Casway and Maria Casway. Could be siblings which might help find parents?
-
I'll have a look there thank you.

Using the Dustdocs site and searching Hemyock for surnames beginning C brought up the following three baptisms
Sarah Cosway 1802 parents Joseph and Sarah
Maria Causeway 1805 parents Joseph and Sarah
Thomas Causey 1808 parents Joseph and Sarah

Well done Emeltom - that looks very promising doesn't it?

Two possible baptisms for Joseph
1757 Tiverton Thomas and Elizabeth
1759 Tiverton Thomas and Joan
Too many Sarah Pearce baptisms and none in Tiverton to be certain which is correct.

Found a more likelty baptism
Joseph Cosway bapt 1776 Tiverton Cove parents Joseph and Ann
According to the 1841 and 1851 Censuses Joseph was a Blacksmith and a widower living with son Thomas and family.

Those replies are great - what super people are on here - thank you so much. I think the surnames being different threw me when I started looking.

Possible burials for Joseph and Sarah
Sarah Cosway 18 May 1834 Upottery aged 57
Joseph Cosway 21 May 1854 Upottery aged 84

Those burials would fit in with the area - not a lot of miles between Sarah born in Hemyock and her parents buried at Upottery. Farm labourers and the like did move about quite a bit.
Thanks for your work Emeltom.
