Title: The Great Storm of 1703
Post by: toby webb on Wednesday 04 October 17 15:39 BST (UK)
Some while ago when trawling Dorset Parish Records, I read jottings in the register of some of the effects of that storm. Could have been in almost any parish in the Southern half of England?

True, but these were definitely in Dorset. Some of the more likely parishes make no mention.

The Church of England declared that the storm was God’s vengeance for the sins of the nation.

(quoting from the wikipedia article)

So likely to be written down by the more evangelistic type priests?
