Title: Looking for baptism and marriage of John Derham
Post by: LizzieL on Thursday 05 October 17 16:27 BST (UK)
John Derham and his wife Mary were baptising children (8) in Morden between 1721 and 1735.  I have a burial for a John in 1751 and a Mary in 1767 in Morden which could be them. Neither burial record gives an age, but the record for Mary says she was a widow which would fit. My guess would be a marriage about 1719/20 and a baptism for John in the late 1690s.
The only 1690s baptism for a Derham or variants I have found in Morden is Elizabeth in 1693 d/o Edmund and Elizabeth. John and Mary named 1st daughter Elizabeth and 5th son Edmund. They also had a John, Mary, James, two Josephs and a Rebecca, so I was wondering if John might be a son of Edmund and Elizabeth.
Any suggestions anyone please.

Closest I can find is

John Dirham 1699 Poole parents Edward and Sarah

Morden is about 6 miles north west of Poole.

I had looked at that 1699 baptism but saw a 1732 marriage at Studland for a John Deram.
Wondered if they were one and the same?

Thank you, it is a possibility. Right time frame and not so far from Morden.

Found the marriage now, it does say John Derham of Pool (sic), so not mine.
