Title: Hangman Puzzle
Post by: Johnnie Murchison on Monday 09 October 17 19:29 BST (UK)
Farquhar Murchison, tacksman and elder, Newtown,Redcastle Killearnan, ROC, murdered by his wife Elizabeth MacKenzie and accomplice Kenneth MacDonald alias Keil on Oct. 25th 1747.
Both were convicted and MacDonald was hanged at Inverness on 29th Oct.1749. Now widowed, Elizabeth MacKenzie was ordered to be transported but no record of this ever happening. The couple had 2 children, both called John, the latter baptised in March 1747 at Killearnen.
Trying to establish what happened to the child(ren) and who Elizabeth MacKenzie was. Can't trace burial record for Farquhar. Red castle Kirk newly built at same period.

As you say, a puzzle.

This Austrailan convict records site lists 37 people with the name MacKenzie, but no sign of an Elizabeth.
