Looking for the birth of Frances Elizabeth Wilkinson/Phillips/Lennon/Fussell. Frances (Fanny) was born in the colonies of Australia early 1800's or late 1799 + as per her death certificate. Frances died 1884 as Mrs James Fussell. I find her married to William James Lennon 1839 and noted as widow. Not sure if her maiden name was Wilkinson or Phillips as I have been unable to find her birth certificate or marriage to another. In the will of William James Lennon there is mention of Mrs Anne Blatchford Want living with his wife Frances. I am of the opinion this Anne is related to the early Cox family and wonder if a related connection be for Frances as well. Any help here would be gratefully received.

Ibelieve that the different states have differing archives and records availability.
So an 1884 death for her. (Place?)
an 1839 marriage (Place, any witness names)?
you mention a will, again, date of the death for the will holder and place where it occurred?
you mention the Cox family in the last line, but no location or first name??
-
Thank you Pauline.
Sorry for the lack of info.
Frances died Sydney, NSW.
The will was the will of her second husband William James Lennon died 1873 Edgecliff, Sydney, NSW.
The Cox family, I believe, is the William Cox whose wife was a Blatchford, Sydney, NSW.

She was 72 at time of death, 19 June 1884, so birth 1812.

I'm thinking Patchy has the details re 2nd and 3rd marriages.
We're looking for a marriage to a Phillips or Wilkinson between her birth in 1812 and marriage in 1839.
She could have been born and married outside of NSW.

I see Anne Blatchford/Blachford Want as married:
775/1855 V1855775 43B WANT George to BEDDEK Ann B CB
Is this correct?
She dies in QLD, at a noteworthy home:
1909 B11871 Anne Blackford Want parents Francis Beddek and Elizabeth Blackford
Death notice, 4th column: http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article165736547
So, what is the Cox connection you mention.

You need to see the marriage certificate, 1875. It will ask for details which will inform you of Frances's origins, and events in her life before 1875.
Can you please list all the information of the death certificate for Frances.

So, what is the Cox connection you mention.
I think it is this marriage: William COX married Anna (or Hannah) BLACKFORD in 1821
1040/1821 V18211040 147B
Modified to add: At St John's Parramatta

I'm still not seeing the connection. Ann Beddeks mother Elizabeth has father listed as Joseph on NSWBM. Mother not named. Ann is buried at South Brisbane Cemetery and age not listed.

Got it.
Elizabeth Blachford is a sister of a Mrs Cox. So technically Ann is not connected to a Cox family. 2nd column.

Is that from a will, or probate?
Was Anne mentioned as a recipient of money or goods, from William's estate?

Hi Jamjar
On Frances's death cert. it has her born in the colonies.
No mention of parents, in fact very little detail is given hence my search for her Wilkinson/Phillips details.
Thank you.

No Anne didn't inherit anything from the estate of William that I know of. I was hoping that the mention of Anne might have led me to more on Frances. I know they are connected somehow but I just can't find that missing link.

I know it doesn't really help with finding Frances Elizabeth, however there is this interesting article about Francis BEDDEK, his career and marriage to Elizabeth BLACHFORD and family, including the COX connection.

Re the marriage to William J LENNON in 1839 and recorded in St Andrews (Presbyterian) registers.
I see there are TWO entries listed in the index of the NSW BDM for this marriage:
1839, Volume 74A, line 3267
1839, Volume 75, line 501
Both are indexed as
William J LENNON marrying Frances E WILKINSON or PHILLIPS.
Do you have a copy of either of those marriage entries in the NSW BDM Early Church Records?
If not, perhaps you could consider ordering an official transcription of ONE of them …. If so, then likely the one in Volume 75 perhaps may have a tad more info than the one in 74A. In either instance, there will be scant info. I suspect volume 75 will be the original parish register and volume 74a will be the transmitted record to St Andrews (in its capacity as ‘head’ of the Church of Scotland in NSW). On some occasions the clergy may have recorded the ship of arrival and/or the age of bride and groom and/or the name of a person giving consent IF either party was a minor (not yet 21 years of age) or if either was under a bond (ie and thereby requiring consent of the NSW Governor).
