I have recently inherited this portrait and no family member has any idea who she is. I'm hoping someone here can help me with the date, based on her clothes and hairstyle. If I can guess her age and know the date it should help identify her.
It is painted on what appears to be opaque glass and the little tacks that we pulled out of the frame looked like little horseshoe nails. I was hoping there were some details on the back, but nothing was there.
She would have been part of the Gillespie / Hall family from Kingower / Inglewood in Victoria Australia.
I appreciate any assistance.

Liz, I’m no expert, so mainly posting this to move it up the board and hopefully catch the eye of an expert.
To help them, could you post images of the whole portrait (showing the edges) - front and back (even if there’s there’s nothing on it sometimes it provides clues) and give measurements of the portrait.
Cheers,
Peter.

Thanks Peter,
As requested here is a photo of the whole portrait, both front and back. It measures 30cm H and 25 cm W, or if preferred 12 inches x 10 inches.

It's an enlargement of a photograph that's been over-sketched to bring out the detail.
The textured grey mount was used from the early 1900's.
Not much to date really except to say large collars were a late Edwardian style but could be anytime up to around 1920.

Thank you, That is a help. I'll check out my family tree for members of that age around that era.
A good start.
