Hello,
Can anyone locate any information on:
George Pochin, son of Armston Pochin (later named his son born in 1799 after his father), born about 1744
George Pochin, born about 1666, either Barkby or Wigston (father of Armston)
The ancestors of Richard Pochin, who married Alice Willoughby and inherited Barkby Hall
Thanks,
Adam

Long shot-Possible marriage on Family search site ???
Groom's Name George Pochin
Spouse's Name Alice Bruin
Marriage Date 31 Oct 1765
Place Wigston-Magna, Leicester, Leicestershire, England
Would make George about 21 if DoB c1744
(Only based on the fact that both Barkby & Wigston are in Leicestershire, don't know how far these areas are apart ???)
Edit question: (quote) "(later named his son born in 1799 after his father), born about 1744"
If George's Dob is c1744 and he has a son in 1799 that would mean he's 55 ???

George married Jane Bailey in 1786, so that can't be him. Thanks anyway.
-
Can you be sure that he wasn't a widower when he married Jane? He would have been older than usual for a first marriage.
-
Yes, that's possible.

This memorial might be of interest.

I was looking at the register for Wigston and the transcriptions. www.freereg.org.uk states that Jane was a widow and Findmypast records her as Mrs.
The register doesn't say that she is a widow and the prefix to her name is unclear.
There is a record on Google books which states 'Mistress Jane Fyer'

Another quote mentions John Pochin and Deliverance Freer

Having refined and proved my descent from the Pochin family with the aid of wills in recent days, can anyone view this book? I've tried but I can't find a copy. Google Books only show snippets, and one digitised version shows part of one page, and then the next page appears to have been photocopied and thus I can't view it. I'm looking for the first two or three pages about the Pochin family of Barkby, where dates are given of death and burial.

I've found a copy now. I'm closing this topic.
