I was interested in this article about the Hoste Arms
in Burnham Market, since a relation (John Wharton Womack)
used to run it. The "Grandma Womack"
of the article is John's Wife.

Being nosy, I decided to check out
Peter Kimpton's relationship to me.
Since Peter is 76, we know his DOB is about 1941.
His mother died in 1995, and was called Kathleen.
Turning to freeBMD, a simple name+date search gives
Sep 1941
KIMPTON Peter H L Oxley Cirencester 6a 1064
Adding the MMN, taking off the forename, and widening the date
adds a brother
Births Mar 1946
Kimpton Paul S Oxley Thanet 2a 2605
Changing from Birth to Marriage gives:
Marriages Jun 1940
Kimpton Harold G Oxley Thanet 2a 4602
Oxley Kathleen H Kimpton Thanet 2a 4602
The Kathleen shows I'm very likely on the right track.
A tree on Ancestry shows Kathleens mother to be a "Briden"
not a Womack, so it looks like the Womack connection
should be Harold G Kimpton's Mother.
But here's where it goes wrong. FreeBMD has no Kimpton/Womack marriage.
Back checking, FreeBMD shows
Births Dec 1914
Kimpton Harold G Womack B. Stortford 3a 1401
So this IS the connection.
An online tree of the Womack family gives:
https://www.werelate.org/wiki/Person:John_Womack_%2838%29
Ellen Eugenie Womack 1878 -
Ethel Mary Womack 1879 - 1963
Olive Ada Womack 1880 -
Marian Eveline Womack 1881 -
Royal John Womack 1883 - 1966
Eva Alice Womack 1884 - 1884
Emily Alice Womack 1885 -
Grace Myra Womack 1888 - 1888
Harold Hugh Womack 1890 - 1962
Latimer Womack 1892 - 1892
I believe I have found by elimination that Harold G Kimpton's mother
was Marian Eveline Womack, but I cannot find positive proof.
Can anyone do better?

Have you seen

Are you thinking he was illegitimate then with unmarried Marion being his mother?
If so where did he get the name Kimpton?
There is a Marion E Womack marriage in Docking Dec 1916 to Arthur F Goff if you think that could be her but would obviously need the birth to confirm she was his mother.

I was thinking the 1914 birth was legitimate, and that possibly the marriage is mis-indexed.

Marion E Goff is born 1881 - death 1966 North Walsham Norfolk

That certainly sounds like "our" Miss Womack. Perhaps Harold G Kimpton was born out of wedlock.

In the Newspaper article Peter says that his Grandmother was Emily
-
There is a marriage
Marriages Jun 1943
Butters Maurice G Kimpton Norwich 4b 387
Kimpton Emily A Butters Norwich 4b 387
Some Womack family mentioned in article are on the 1939 with Emily a widow.

He did. Which I ignored. :-[

So Emily Alice Womack, 1885 comes into the frame.
https://www.werelate.org/wiki/Person:Emily_Womack_%285%29
Which brings us back to the lack of a recorded Kimpton/Womack marriage.

Inevitably, FreeBMD doesn't yield the obvious Womack/Butters marriage

Emily married as a Kimpton to Butters in 1943 as a widow. There must have been a marriage as Emily Womack to a Kimpton but not able to trace.
Emily still with family single in 1911 so marriage 1911 -1914? Unless never married, but seems Harold G 1914 was her son, Emily still Kimpton in 1939.

FreeBMD has a marriage for Emily Womack June 1911 Reg Dist Ecclesall B. ref 9c 38, which does not have a corresponding entry for her husband

Looked at that one the original scan reads correct num 9c 769. Possible husbands are Fredrick Bird or Frederick White.

I do apologise people!
I thought this would be a quick race up and down a tree; I didn't expect it to be hard!

My research shows Emily Alice Womack m Alfred George Kimpton, 25 November 1914. Their son was Harold George Kimpton.
-
How did you find the date of the marriage? We just can't find it registered anywhere!
-
It was in my Womack tree but on checking, the 25 November 1914 was the christening of Harold G, not his parents wedding. Sorry for the confusion. I'll see if I can find the real marriage date.
