Title: Burial Record
Post by: carolmasip on Monday 23 October 17 14:50 BST (UK)
Hello could anyone offer any advice on the following please:

-am trying to help a lady in Canda find out where her aunt is buried.

The person in question is an ETHEL M. DEAN died aged 17 in 1937 - entry of death indicates records are for 'Auckland' (UK).

Ethel was a ward of St Mary's Home for girls in Tudhoe, County Durham and died of rheumtic fever in a hospital (presumably/possibly nearby). She may of course have left the home at the age of 17 (but some girls did continue in it's employ once they were of leaving age).

Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanking you in advance. Carol Masip

This is her death registration

Deaths March qtr 1937
Ethel M Dean aged 17    Auckland (County Durham)    10a   300 but Tudhoe is not one of the areas within the Auckland RD which suggests the hospital was in a different area

Were her parents still alive at the time she died?  Where did they live?

Spennymoor Created 1.4.1937 out of the parishes of Tudhoe, Whitworth, Byers Green, Merrington Lane, Low Spennymoor, Middlestone, Merrington, Westerton, Old Park, Hett, Whitworth Without, Newfield, Brandon & Byshottles, and Esholt. Hi,

I couldn't find Ethel in Tudhoe or Spennymoor but there are some more cemeteries you can search here,

http://www.durhamrecordoffice.org.uk/article/10596/Cemeteries-and-Crematoria

In case it helps, the  https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/menu.asp  site shows her middle name as May.
