Hi Folks
I am trying to find a baptismal entry for K(C)atherine Holmes baptised about 1852 in Cromarty, I believe her Father to be Donald, she married Joseph Samuel Craig 19th April 1877 in Gibraltar, I have a copy of this marriage certificate, with the surname Holmes, then later it is believed she changed her surname to Chisholme, so could Chisholm have been her true surname with an error written on her marriage certificate.
Any help is appreciated
Thanks

Have you looked on Scotland’s People or Family Search

There is a Catherine Chisholm born 16 Aug 1854, christened 25th august 1854 at FREE CHURCH, KILTARLITY, INVERNESS, SCOTLAND, father Donald Chisolm and mother Catherine Fraser. Could this be your Catheine Holmes?

Thank you for that information, I now believe her Maiden Surname was Holmes, because I have just found the birth entries of 2 more children born after they returned from Gibraltar, with the maiden name HOLMES, unless Holmes is what she said her Maiden was on her marriage and the birth certificates of the children, who knows.
I will do some research to see if I can find any siblings to confirm or not what her maiden name was, but this may take some time.
Thank you again

Hi Just to say I have been researching Catherine Holm/es as well and finally pinpointed her. Her parents were Donald Holm and Elizabeth McLennan she was born in 1847. Elizabeth McLennan's mother was Catherine Chisholm - hence Catherine Chisholm Craig in 1911 census. Did you find anything more ? I was wondering how she got from Cromarty to Gibraltar
