Hi
I am trying to trace a Giles Rowland born 1827 Wiltshire, England
F James Rowland M Mary Rowland (nee Newman)
last known reference England 1851 Census aged 24 years
I have found a record of a Giles Rowland arriving in Australia, Queensland
on Ship Hastings 30 May 1857 aged 29 years.
I have also seen a death in 1869 Australia of a Giles Rowland with same father name, but different mother.
Could this be what happened to my Giles Rowland.
Any help or details of the Giles in Australia would be fantastic.

Australian death certificates are usually very informative, giving details of the deceased's family, place of birth, parents etc
Death registrations in Queensland from 1856 ask for the following information:
Name, Date, Death, Age, Occupation, Cause of death, Parents' names, Spouse names and marriage details, Chns names, No of chn, Birthplace, Residency, Burial place
Of course, the accuracy of the information depends on the knowledge/truthfulness of the informant. You can purchase and then download an image of the record for $AU21.40.

After a long absence from my FH Research, I have comeback to my Rowland family line.
Really appreciate the help so far, and see that Giles's land was sold in 1868 a year before his death.
I am curious to know if this is evidence of any marriages or children for Giles whilst he lived in Australia.
Or indeed any information on the cause of his death.

I agree with JM - can't see any suitable marriage or children in Queensland but I may have missed them. Information on death certificates depends on the knowledge/truthfulness of the informant so I would think it not impossible that the incorrect name is given for his father.
