Could anyone please give me their opinion, and fresh eyes on the place name. I think either Gamston, or Gonalston?? Nottinghamshire.

Good evening,
Are you able to give us a larger portion of the document. That way we can compare lettering with other words which may be easier to decipher.

Robert Warrener's wife Elizabeth.

I think it's written as Gonaldson, so would say it's Gonaltson.

I think Gadget is right ... the Elizabeth SIMPSON who was bap in Gamston apparently married there in 1819.

I am not convinced on her being the one baptised in Gamston. It is not the local Gamston but the one near Retford.
I would think Elizth dau of Mary Simpson baptised Gonalston 19 June 1796 more likely.
She was my 3x great grandmother.

Agree with Gadget, the 'd' in this place name is consistent with the d in Farndon on the next page.
I've seen records from the previous century (from memory) in which it appeared as "Gunniston".

I think Geoff is saying it's not that one but is the one I suggested:

Rattus also concurs :)
