Can anyone find a death for John WALKINSHAW who died May 30 1917 please?
There is a death in Jamaica, West Indies for the similar name of John Samuel WALKINSHAW on the same date - if a connection could have been made - thank you in advance

Thank you Hallmark
I can't find any death records either but by doing a world search by date found a death in Jamaica but have no idea how there could be a connection
I am distantly related to a WALKINSHAW family that lived in Ahascragh, Co. Galway
Eliza WALKINSHAW married Christopher SMYTH/SMITH on Sept 30 1891
She is named as the informant on several civil records; she died in 1926
When I came across this probate record I wondered if this John was related to my family.

Also for information and clarification
The John WALKINSHAW who died could not have been the man born on Dec 20 1893 LINK (https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1894/02268/1852085.pdf) #236
His parents were James WALKINSHAW and Margaret CURLEY
He joined the RIC in 1914 #68041; he died Sept 8 1964 LINK (https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1964/04260/4093521.pdf) #234
In 1911 a FLEMMING family lived at 88 Seville Place LINK (http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Dublin/North_Dock/Seville_Place/18989/)
Vincent FLEMMING is still listed there in 1915 on the register of electors

The only John Walkinshaw I can see with a job as a clerk is this guy in Mayo born Galway
1901

finding him in 1911 proved a bit of a giggle in the end
1911

could he have been transferred to Dublin.

That is for Wackin Show John !! ;D ;D ;D
-
That is brilliant Sinann!!!
I had the 1901 entry but didn't want to taint any searching - the name is so rare in Co. Galway that I feel he must be related at the very least.
Whether this John went to Dublin (or Jamaica) and died in 1917 I can't say. His age fits with the rest of the family, which includes a married sister Eliza SMITH) and it seems that he possibly never married if still single in 1911.
He's still on the maybe list for now - what a "wackin show" alright!

Yes you need to allow for slight variations when spelling Surnames!! ;D
