This was taken by Green & Sutcliffe Burton Westmorland.
A date may help me to identify her a rough age would be useful too.

Wow what a lovely photo...I would say this was 1860s.

I would say the lady looks about 40 and a super photograph to have.

Hi John, I have a very similar photo, taken at a studio in Leeds, the dress and hairstyles are very similar. I had the photo dated on here to be from the 1860s, so Carol is correct. I believe my photo is from my mothers side of the family.

The sleeve style suggests early decade.
A very nice outfit so from a family with disposable income.

Hi Pat I'm thinking it could be my Grt Grandfathers sister born 1839 but she would only be in her twenties in the 1860's . Unless it's her mother but she died in 1856 age 53.
Thank you to all above for dates and age.

I hope I haven't done her a disservice by guessing she was 40, the expression and her mouth made me think older than 20's.
Any other sisters she may have been?
-
Do you know when she got married as I think I can see evidence of a wedding ring and she appears to be displaying her left hand.

I would guess older than early 20s too - also the outfit looks a bit old for a young girl doesn't it?? :-\ not sure about that statement - just thinking.
- but definitely not old enough to be her mother.
