Hi all,
I've got David Campbell, b.c. 1823 (or 1832) in Boltongate or Tyrone, Ireland. He married a Margaret, b.c. 1825-30, born in Boltongate or County Down, Ireland.
I have children for this couple, who seem to have MMN Hewitson. However, the only marriage I can find that fits is one for a David Campbell to Margaret Nicholson.
Does anyone know if I'm barking up the wrong tree, or maybe Margaret was married before she married David?
Any help would be gratefully received.
Many thanks,
Emma

Could they have married in Ireland?
-
No children in 1861. Where are they in 1871

Throwing this one back out there! (Apologies for not replying before!)
In 1861, there are the following children listed underneath David Campbell, whose name was then crossed through. I'm not sure whether they were recorded particularly accurately...
Ann Campbell, aged 12 (could be Jane?)
Margaret Campbell, aged 9
Mary Campbell, aged 6
John Campbell, aged 4
Mary Ann Campbell, aged 2 (could be Sarah?)
RG09/3930 F 26 P 24
Parents are listed here: RG09/3930 F 26 P 23.
I am still at a loss as to any marriage between David Campbell and Margaret Hewitson (or similar sounding - one of the children had Houston as MMN).
I have also been looking for baptisms for both parents in Irish records, but will post separately about them!

Have you seen this 1871 entry?
RG10 pce 4961 folio 138 page 34
Where does Ireland feature as 1861 has no birthplace for David but all children b Cumberland. 1871 shows whole family b Cumberland

Hi,
Thanks for your reply...yes, I do have that info. My frustration is that I haven't so far been able to find a marriage for David and Margaret. I was hoping that they would have got married in England, as that would make things so much easier!

Where does Ireland feature?

In the 1851, 61, 81 census records, David's place of birth is listed as Ireland. In 1891, it is listed as Tyrone, Ireland. Margaret is listed as Down, Ireland, at that point.

I see what you mean now. The 1861 is really confusing as the parents image is shown as page 20 of 20 when you view it but the children are on page 6 of 6
