Searching for any information about a Captain William Scott (bc1818) and his daughter Elizabeth (Lucy) Scott (bc 1837 Newcastle on Tyne) who came to New Zealand about 1850/1851 from perhaps England (from his daughters Diamond Jubilee notice in Newspaper). Do not know if they Immigrated or came in the Army or as a Master Mariner. I believe he was a storekeeper at Willis Street, Wellington as this is where his daughter was married from. He perhaps remarried to Mary Florence Mitchell in 1851, but this may be the wrong. I believe his 1st wife was Lucy but no sign of her in NZ. His daughter Elizabeth married Rudolphe Marie Martin Joseph de St Laurent in 1857 in Wellington. Looking for proof of Immigration for William and Elizabeth or Army records.

Hi Casey,
You say William may have remarried in 1851 but the newspaper notice for Elizabeth's golden wedding states she married at the residence of her parents
https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/HNS19070808.2.11?query=Captain%20William%20Scott
And this for their diamond weddings says she came to NZ in 1851

Do you have a death for Elizabeth's mother?
Cheers Janette

.... I believe he was a storekeeper at Willis Street, Wellington as this is where his daughter was married from.
His daughter Elizabeth married Rudolphe Marie Martin Joseph de St Laurent in 1857 in Wellington.

Hi - the shop keeper is not the william Scott you are looking for, as i have also chased down this rabbit hole.
At one stage there were two William Scotts living in Willis Street , based on the jury lists, one was a Store keeper who died in 1868 i think and the other was a master mariner (ie capt).
The master mariner William Scott had previously been a tide-waiter (which is a customs officer) who lived in Thordon, he also bought land and a house in Taranaki Place.
-
Hi...ignore my post about the mariner william scott....he did live in willis street....but if you take away the "capt" that elizabeth talked about everything else points towards william the shopkeeper being her father....this william had his sister and brother hgere in wellington.
The mariner william scott will mentions a reputed wife and son
-
William scott the store keeper had a brorher robert and his sister ellen....her death cert gives not information on parents.
Ellen's children were fascinating and she and her husband where quite well off
-
I don't know if anybody is still following this thread but I have done a bit of donkey work on Elizabeth.
I've managed to sort out some of the misleading bits and now my best guess is that Elizabeth was born 1837 to William Scott & Elizabeth, who died before 1851. She came to New Zealand with William in 1850/51; in 1851 William married Mary Florence Mitchell.

Look forward to hearing if anybody can build on this
