Title: James BARRETT b. 1844 Somerset
Post by: BattyB on Thursday 09 November 17 13:34 GMT (UK)
I have spent all morning scouring the census's for James Barrett (son of Charles and Elizabeth) born 1844 in the Somerset area - Curry Rivel/Langport.
I have found him on 1851/ 1861/1891/1901 but he seems to have disappeared on the 1871 and 1881 census.
He was single during these times. Any help would be great - thanks.

Thank you for that.  Will keep this open just in case we can find him in the 1881 census

If you look on the 1881 census there is a James Barrett living with father Charles and brothers Richard and Stephen in Curry Rivell born Hambridge Somerset but his age is given as 30

I think someone might have transcribed it wrongly on the census his brother Charles and family are also living up the road

James did have a brother Charles so looks like an error by the transcriber.  I think I have found James' father Charles on the 1871 census - the right age living in Wales (Tredegar) - saved it for further reference just in case it's not who I want it to be.

I got lost with my grandson in a maze back in the summer and this lark is very similar !
